Posted September 20, 2012New research reveals that acupuncture prevents brain cell loss in memory areas of the brain. The new laboratory findings also show that acupuncture improves cognition. The researchers note that these findings suggest that acupuncture is a potential treatment for cognitive impairment disorders and Alzheimer’s disease.
Acupuncture Reduces Postoperative Pain
Posted September 10, 2012Researchers tested the effects of electro-acupuncture to determine its ability to reduce postoperative pain caused by incisions. The study compared a control group with a medication group, an acupuncture group and a sham acupuncture group. The researchers discovered that 100 Hz electricity bilaterally applied to acupoint ST36 (Zusanli) reduced pain comparable to that of the non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug carprofen.

New Study - Acupuncture Improves Deep Sleep
Posted September 04, 2012New research confirms that acupuncture enhances slow wave sleep (SWS). Slow wave sleep, commonly referred to as deep sleep, is both the third and fourth stage of non-rapid eye movement sleep. Delta brain waves are dominant during SWS and deep sleep occurs in longer periods in the first three hours of sleep.

Posted August 28, 2012A recent study done by Yale University states, "women with hot flashes due to conventional breast cancer treatment reveals that women receiving acupuncture have less hot flashes. The randomized, placebo-controlled clinical trial measured a 30 percent reduction of hot flashes for women receiving acupuncture."
